With May upon us, spring is finally here, and summer is not too far away. Given the challenging weather conditions that many of us have endured already this year, it is easy to see why many people and families are keen to find activities that will get them out of the house. As you would expect, there is a lot happening at Pop Brixton in May. On Friday the 4th of May, there is a Sauvignon Blanc Wine Tasting event which could be brilliant way to start the Bank Holiday weekend. The will be a Cinco De Mayo celebration on Saturday the 5th of May and on Sunday the 6th, make the most of the Bank Holiday by enjoying a film during the day and then partaking in the Culture Cuts Afro Disco in the evening. With further cinema showings, yoga classes, wine tasting and various DJ sets throughout the month, if you are looking to be active in May, Pop Brixton will have something of interest for you.

Brixton offers fantastic gigs in May of 2018

There is always gigs to look out for in Brixton and the Academy has a fantastic range of acts and artists to enjoy in May. Plan B, Rita Ora, Ezra Furman and Scooter are all lined up to appear over the month so no matter what sort of music you enjoy, Brixton will deliver.

Brixton Library is always a fantastic destination for families. On Saturday the 5th of May, there is a craft day where kids can enjoy an art session or two. This takes place on every Saturday in May so there will be plenty of opportunities for youngsters to learn while letting their hair down. Other weekly classes include the ping-pong club, Wriggle & Rhyme, which is a story time and nursery read-along session for youngsters and the Homework Cub where youngsters can aid their studies with the support from peers and staff members.

Plenty to look forward to in May in Brixton

Don’t forget that May offers two Bank Holidays and there is also Saturday the 19th of May to consider. This will be a big day for many people, after all, it is FA and Scottish Cup final day, so football fans have a lot to look forward to, but it is also the date of the Royal Wedding. This means that there may be impromptu parties and hastily arranged events, so keep looking at local listings in the run-up to these dates to make sure that you are up to date with even the last-minute events.
