Brixton: June 2018 Activities

Spread the love

Summer is here and virtually everyone is looking for ways to make the most of the next few weeks. You don’t have to travel this summer to enjoy yourself because there are many brilliant activities taking place in Brixton this summer. At Brixton Property Blog, you will find plenty of examples of how brilliant the local community is, and this is why I am delighted to share some of the most exciting Brixton June 2018 activities with you.

Have a Field Day in Brixton

Brixton is an area that is synonymous with music and the start of June provides you with a tremendous opportunity to see some of the best acts on your doorstep. This is because the Field Day moves to Brixton from its former home in the North West of London and the local community is delighted to welcome it to the neighbourhood.

Brockwell Park is the place to be on Friday the 1st and Saturday the 2nd of June and if you are a music lover, you’ll be keen to get involved. Some of the top artists involved with the Field Day festival are Erykah Badu, Four Tet, Thundercat, Fever Ray, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Cornelius and Jeff Mills. Whether you are a guitar fan, or you love dance music, Field Day looks set to be one of the biggest hits of the summer and the fact that it can be found in Brixton makes it even more fantastic in 2018.

Watch the World Cup down your local
The World Cup gets underway in the middle of June, running all the way through until June. England have three group games taking place in June, so there are some big games to look out for but no matter who is playing, you’ll find that this is the ideal time to hit your local pub and have some fun watching the most exciting sporting event in the world.

The dates for your diary with respect to the England games are:

  • June 18th for England v Tunisia
  • June 24th for England v Panama
  • June 28th for England v Belgium

The first two games should give England the chance to develop some confidence in the tournament, but it is the end of the month clash versus Belgium that will likely impact on England’s progress in the tournament.

Be active and see some local sights

If you are looking for a daytime activity that gets the heart rate going while ensuring you make the most of the local community, look out for the Brockwell Park walks that take place every Tuesday morning. The meeting time is 11pm at the Lido so limber up and spend time with likeminded people as you make your way around one of the finest locations in Brixton.

It may be summer, but school is still on, and this means that there are plenty of groups supporting kids and helping them make the most of their free time. Durning Library has a lot of events on over the course of the month but the Homework Club on Wednesday after school is likely to be a popular draw for pupils and parents alike!

Hopefully you have found something that excites you over the next few weeks in Brixton. I know that many of these events appeal to me, so make sure you get out and about in the community this June.
